Abstract

Purpose: to implement a real-time network monitoring and automated whatsapp alerting system for mikrotik infrastructure using PRTG network monitor, and to evaluate its fault detection capability and response time.
Method: this study employed a research and development (R&D) method involving observation, interviews, system implementation, and functional testing. The system was implemented in a testing network using PRTG network monitor to monitor mikrotik infrastructure and integrated with a whatsapp gateway API for automated alerts. System performance was evaluated through fault simulation and response-time measurement.
Findings: the system successfully monitored key mikrotik parameters, detected simulated network faults, and delivered automated whatsapp notifications. The PRTG detection time was 5–10 seconds, whatsapp notification delivery took 3–5 seconds, and the total system response time was 8–15 seconds.
Implications: the proposed system can improve the efficiency and responsiveness of network monitoring by providing centralized monitoring and automated real-time notifications, thereby supporting faster identification and response to network faults.
Originality: lies in the integration of PRTG-based mikrotik infrastructure monitoring with a whatsapp gateway API to provide automated real-time fault notifications and evaluate end-to-end detection and notification response time.
