Feasibility Study for the Development of Integrated Fisheries Industrial Estate (KIPT) in Selayar Islands Regency

Abstract

As an archipelagic region located along strategic sea lanes (ALKI II and III), Kepulauan Selayar Regency possesses significant marine and fisheries potential, particularly in key commodities such as tuna, skipjack tuna, grouper, and snapper. To optimize these resources and foster local economic growth, a comprehensive feasibility study was conducted for the development of an Integrated Fisheries Industrial Zone (KIPT). This study evaluates the technical, spatial, economic, financial, environmental, and managerial aspects to justify the establishment of the industrial zone. The technical and spatial evaluations confirm that the strategic location meets standard criteria, including proximity to urban centers, transport accessibility, and industrial infrastructure availability. Economically and financially, the proposed development is projected to generate viable returns, attract investments, and enhance Regional Original Income (PAD) through structured cash flow and investment frameworks. Furthermore, environmental and managerial assessments ensure sustainable operations and effective project execution. The study concludes that the development of KIPT in Kepulauan Selayar Regency is highly feasible and recommends its implementation as a strategic logistics and fisheries hub for Eastern Indonesia
